New Legislatures

The year of 2011 will also be a year to where America will be bringing in a new Congress to our United States government. The 112th Congress of the United States of America will be one of different measures, compared to past Congresses. These next two years of legislative activity will have new, fresh, and young voices, both in the Senate and the House. There will be Legislators of different voices, notably those who were supported by the Tea Party and 9.12 groups around the country, such as Florida’s Marco Rubio, Utah’s Mike Lee, and Kentucky’s Rand Paul.

These people, listed and unlisted, who will assume office in just mere days are examples that hard work, determination, and vision. They were able to attain the support that they needed. This support that they received was from the People of the United States, from the Grassroots activists, and from those who know what is happening and are concerned as to what is happening in this country. Assuming they keep their promises, it is these type of officials that will deliver what is truly needed; they will deliver the limitation of the Federal Government and ensure the power of the fifty different States in America.

Strides are being taken on local levels, too. State Legislatures, everywhere in the country, are experiencing an influx of liberty minded individuals; individuals who were chosen by Americans to lead and work on the problems that people face. Some of these individuals who were voted in are ones who will be returning from previous years, and, during those years, they were ones who worked on the problems and issues responsibly.

New legislation, on state levels and Federal levels, will emerge in short time. It is important that they be looked at in order to ensure the sovereignty of the United States in America.

A new era of government has begun!

Nearing the End

We experienced a lot of rain and cold for the picnics this weekend. Thanks to our committed and dedicated supporters in Utah County, the show went on. Reps. Becky Lockhart, John Dougal, Mike Morley, Margaret Dayton, Ken Sumsion, Chris Herrod, Craig Frank and Carl Wimmer all spoke on the formation of the caucus, the recent bills passed and our future goals and commitments.

Uintah County picnic goers were directed to the home of Joni Crane, in Vernal, for an indoor meeting with Chris Herrod, Craig Frank and Carl Wimmer. This was a very supportive group of citizens who were full of questions, suggestions and comments. We enjoyed a casual pot-luck style dinner and great commradre.

The last two picnics are scheduled for next weekend. The first will be held at the Emma Russell Park in Roy on Friday, June 18 at 7:00. The final picnic will be held at the Merlin Olsen Central Park in logan on Saturday, June 19, at 5:00.

The Feeling at the Picnics

At these Picnics with the Patrick Henry Caucus, you have the opportunity to meet the legislators who are a part of the Caucus. One-on-one you can discuss with them your feelings on certain issues and they may do the same with you. As legislators speak to those who attend, there is an air of real American value. You think, Wow, these people here really do care about their country and how it is operated. The theme is States’ Rights, going from Immigration control to Health Care.

At these meetings, you can realize, if you haven’t already, the importance to be involved with what is around you. Whether it be the Caucus, 9/12 projects, local campaigns, and so on!

Join us for the remainder of the meetings, it would be great to see you out there.

PHC Press Release

The Patrick Henry Caucus opposes the state complying with federal mandates and calls on state leaders to stand with them in opposition.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 24, 2010

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Chapter of the Patrick Henry Caucus (PHC) has taken a unanimous position opposing any attempt by the state of Utah to capitulate and cooperate with the federal healthcare mandates passed by Congress, and signed by President Obama.

In an official vote of its members, both the Senate and House members of the PHC expressed complete opposition to the state of Utah implementing the federally mandated High Risk Insurance Pool. “We call on Governor Herbert, Speaker Clark and President Waddoups to stand with The Patrick Henry Caucus and with the citizens of Utah as we tell the federal government that we will not go along to get along, not now, not ever,” said Rep. Carl Wimmer R-Herriman.
Caucus members were vocal in expressing opposition to the federal government’s offer of cash for those states who cooperate in creating the new HIP pool. Rep. Bill Wright R-Holden said “Do we sell our liberty?” Rep. Chris Herrod R-Provo said “Utah should take the lead and oppose taking any federal money.” Senator Stuart Adams R- Layton added that “I fully support (our caucus) taking this official position!”

The Patrick Henry Caucus is a national organization founded in Utah. It is comprised of elected legislative officials who hold as its primary function the reassertion of balanced federalism as outlined in the 10th Amendment of the Constitution of The United States.

What the Caucus Is

The Patrick Henry Caucus is dedicated to the ideals established by our Founding Fathers as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution. The Caucus believes the Constitution is an inspired document and should be adhered to strictly as the Founders intended. We consider the Bill of Rights to be the absolute guarantor of the freedoms specified. The Caucus especially emphasizes the tenth amendment. We affirm that the federal government may exercise only those rights and powers that are specifically granted unto it by the Constitution and no others. We reassert the sovereignty and rights of the individual states. As legislators who adhere to these ideals, we unite as The Patrick Henry Caucus, to take like-minded legislative action to this end.

As citizens, we join with legislators in The Patrick Henry Coalition. The Founding Fathers specified that we, the people, have certain “unalienable rights” including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We believe that all Americans ought to be able to make their own decisions and take personal responsibility for them. Join us is in supporting legislators who will enact legislation that will reclaim state and individual rights.

Picnic with the Patrick Henry Caucus

Come and enjoy a casual evening with the company of like-minded state sovereignty supporters. You will need to supply your own picnic dinner and drinks. There will not be a formal program, instead guests will engage in a discussion with PHC legislators on state and federal issues pertaining to the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We will also cover the 12 state sovereignty bills that were passed in the Utah Legislature this year as well as future goals. We invite you to bring friends along to learn about our important cause. This is a FREE event. Of course, donations are always appreciated to help grow the caucus and spread the movement. We will also have PHC t-shirts available for purchase. Rain or shine, we will be there!

About The Patrick Henry Caucus: The PHC was formed in 2009 by a group of Utah Representatives to be the legislative voice of the 9-12, Tea Party and other citizen political activist groups. The focus of PHC is to unify citizens and state legislators in an effort to reassert the powers of the states and to preserve individual freedoms.
